DETTOZA specializes in creating prints, patterns and illustrations that are not only cool as hell but also have a one-of-a-kind look while remaining trendy and attractive.

DETTOZA is the graphic work of Chicago artist Gabe Lanza, and is named after his son Benedetto’s pronunciation of his own full name. He received a BFA in Illustration from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 1999. Since then, Gabe has had experience in surface/textile design, editorial illustration, graphic arts, and product design including: apparel, rugs, branding and advertising.

He draws his inspiration from contemporary graphic art, urban design and folk art. Influences include vinyl/tin toys, rock poster art, rummage sales, discarded beauty, salvaged wood, vintage fabrics, destructive robots and zombies.

When he’s not making graphic dreams come true, Gabe enjoys sipping a Whiskey Old-Fashioned, riding his vintage motorcycles, year long bicycling, and playing board games with his wife, son, and 26 pound cat.

"Everything I do starts with inspiration whether its a photo, and image or an idea. Good solutions start with good ideas and that’s why my approach always begins with a pencil and paper. I’m a big believer in sketching and its also a process that involves my clients each step of the way."
